For the convenience of our patients, we have listed some of our office policies below:

Lateness
Missed Appointments/Cancellation Policy
Scheduling
Excessive Breakage

Lateness
If a patient is more than 15 minutes late, we consider this a missed appointment. In this case, we may be able to still work the appointment in with the understanding that you may have to wait while we address the other scheduled patients. We will provide you with the option of waiting or rescheduling. If you know that you may be late, please call the office at 740-936-5003 so that we may advise you of the office schedule and whether we will still be able to see the patient in the allowed amount of time.

Missed Appointments/Cancellation Policy
As with any medical or dental office, we have a cancellation policy in place to be fair to all of our patients. Our office cancellation policy requires two full business days to cancel your appointment without incurring a missed appointment fee which would be assessed without proper notice. This allows us time to offer your time slot to others who may be waiting for an appointment at that time. We provide appointment cards when you schedule at the office. If you don’t receive one, please ask the receptionist.

We would like to thank you in advance for understanding that this policy is in place in the interest of fairness to all of our patients and we appreciate your consideration in this matter. If you have any questions regarding this policy, please don’t hesitate to call the office at 740-936-5003.

Scheduling
We have standard business hours similar to other medical and dental offices. Unfortunately, as with other pediatricians, eye doctors, pediatric dentists, and other offices where the majority of patients are children, it is impossible to see every patient between 3-5 pm. For this reason, your child may occasionally need to miss some school. Our scheduled appointment times generally run between 15-60 minutes so that our younger patients can return to school without missing more than a period. We provide excuses so that the absences are excused. Thankfully, on average, a patient may only be seen six times during any given school year so your orthodontic treatment will have very little impact. We do our best to schedule an appointment that suits your needs when possible. We encourage our patients to schedule their next appointment while they are at the office rather than calling in later. You will be more likely to be able to schedule an appointment time you like before availability becomes limited.

For emergencies, we like to see our patients ASAP to correct any issues. Please call in the morning so that we can offer you an appointment to be seen that same day and not have to wait for another day.

Breakage
The majority of our patients breeze through treatment without any untoward occurrences such as broken brackets, bands, or wires or lost bite plates and retainers. We know we have our patients and their parents to thank for their attention to the guidelines we provide at the beginning of treatment. However, we do understand that accidents can occur and that there is a learning curve when a patient begins orthodontic treatment. We do our best to encourage our patients to avoid breakage to prevent delays and extensions of their treatment time, and offer a “mulligan” (or free pass) for broken brackets, band, or wires during the acclimation period. If breakage becomes a regular occurrence and is excessive we will need to begin charging a fee for each issue. We will provide prior notice for any fee charges. Appliances such as retainers, forsus bite jumpers, bite plates, expanders, and aligners have associated lab costs that are the responsibility of the patient and will be charged accordingly at the time of replacement.

Please feel free to contact Renick Orthodontics at 740-936-5003 if you have any questions about our office policies.
